Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Fortifying Conditioner and Oil Treatment Review

I have really curly (and sometimes frizzy) hair, so I’m always trying new products to see what I can do to tame it.  It tends to be really dry as well, so I’ve been looking for a conditioner that’s moisturizing but doesn’t weigh it down, which is hard to find.  Today, I’m going to review two of Garnier’s products from their Sleek and Shine line.

The conditioner:  This conditioner is very moisturizing.  At first, I really liked it because it didn’t take much to condition my hair at all, compared to other conditioners that take a whole handful.  It smells nice and fresh and doesn’t weigh my hair down like others do.  I would really only recommend trying this if you have extremely dry hair like I do, because I think it’s a little too much for others.  I have a big bottle of this, so I’m using it up for now, but I don’t think I’m going to buy it again.  The reason I ended up not really liking this conditioner is because it leaves a film on your hair; your hair feels really soft and moisturized, but it almost feels like you can’t get the conditioner out of your hair once you’ve put even just a little bit on.  So for this reason, overall I wouldn’t recommend this one.

I’ve been looking for an all-natural conditioner that isn’t too expensive, so if you have a recommendation, please feel free to let me know in the comments!

The oil treatment:  Now, this I absolutely love.  I actually got this as a free full-sized sample when it first came out.  I’ve tried so many products out there to try to get my hair to ditch the frizz, but this is one of the only things that have worked for me.  I’ve tried mousse, wax, pomade, leave in conditioner, olive oil, coconut oil, sweet almond oil, etc. and none of them have done what this has been able to do.  Anybody out there with curly or frizzy hair will know what I’m talking about when I say it is really hard to find something that actually works without making your hair crunchy, heavy, or greasy.  I used coconut oil for a while, but it made my hair way too oily.  This doesn’t do that.  You can either add this to your conditioner in the shower, apply it to damp hair and let it dry naturally, or style your hair and then apply it.  I usually use it on damp hair and just let my hair dry naturally.  With this, a little goes a long way; I use about a quarter-sized dollop of it and it covers all of my hair (and I have a lot of hair, plus it’s long).  I’ve been using this one little bottle for months, and I already have a full one waiting for me when that one is empty.  This is seriously worth it for the price, and if you try anything from the Sleek & Shine line, this is what I recommend!  You can get it at the drugstore for about $4 or $5, or you can get it on Amazon for $2.99 here.  It lasts so long and does such an amazing job, that I can’t recommend this one enough.

Have you tried anything from the Sleek & Shine line?  What are your essential hair products? Let me know in the comments.

Until next time,

  1. I think the oil is exactly what my daughter needs…thanks so much for the review! I’ve picked it up and put it down several times, now I’ll just go ahead and give it a whirl.
